There was a guy named Vin DiCarlo who spoke at David DeAngelo’s Man Transformation event a couple weeks ago.
And one of the concepts he spoke about can be applied to anyone trying to better themselves, not just to guys in the dating world.
There are obviously going to be times when you don’t feel at the top of your game.
You could be tired from a long day’s work.
You could be sick.
You could be disgusting and sweaty from the gym.
You could have just woken up, unshowered, unshaven, without your teeth brushed, hair all cow-licked, and just standing in line at the coffee shop, waiting to order.
And inevitably, THAT’S when you’ll spot an attractive women.
When you are not “primed” or “in state.”
And there are so many “legitimate” excuses to tell yourself why you can’t approach her.
“I smell and I haven’t brushed my teeth… she’ll think I’m gross. I’m sick and bleary eyed… I just hope I see her again some other time…” - and on and on and on.
Vin’s advice was to use THESE times, especially these times in fact, to really push your boundaries, and see what you’re capable of.
The truth is, life is cyclical.
You are NEVER going to feel 100% at the top of your game, all the time. It just doesn’t happen.
And if you only approach women when you feel 100% you are severely limiting your opportunities, and confining your own growth.
That got me thinking.
How many times have I felt tired, sick, not at my best, and just forced myself to keep writing that article, sales letter, or email?
And how many times have I given up, made excuses, and just fallen asleep?
It’s an interesting point to consider, that when you are down and out, THAT’S when the real work begins.
Things will never be perfect, conditions will never be perfect.
Sure, sometimes there will be those times when the girl smiles, and approaches YOU.
But those times are few and far between unless you are an Abercrombie and Fitch model.
Similarly for us, there are times when you feel ALIVE, and feel like you could singlehandedly create a business empire.
But it’s when you DON’T feel that way that your true mettle, your true character will start to reveal itself.
There’s a cool quote somewhere that says something like, “It’s in the fires of adversity that one’s character is forged” - and I believe this is true.
So what do YOU do as an entrepreneur? When you KNOW you’ve got something to do, and yet and you don’t want to do any work, you’re tired, maybe sick?
A LOT of people would give up and go to sleep, watch TV, let their momentum slip away.
But it’s when you can gut it out, and plow through your fears and insecurities that you really start making progress.
With women (so says Vin DiCarlo), in business (says me), in life…
