Henry David Thoreau once said, “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation” and he was right.
Most people hate their jobs, hate the daily grind, and hate the monotonous 9-5 routine that slowly crushes their souls.
Why do people do this to themselves?
Why do people focus their lives around jobs they hate, then, if they have time left over, pursue the activities that they are passionate about?
Doesn’t that sound upside down and crazy to you?
And yet the most incomprehensible thing about it is that people COMPLAIN about their situations.
Listen…
Nobody forced you to take a job you don’t like.
Nobody is forcing you to STAY at a job you don’t like.
In fact, nobody will EVER force you to do anything you don’t WANT to do
Nobody…. but you.
When you realize that it’s YOU who has the power to make change in your life, your perspective starts to change.
The change may start out small, but it’s a change nonetheless.
When you realize that idly REACTING to life is just a recipe for mediocrity, then that seed of change begins to take root.
And when that seed of change begins to develop, you realize that you have choices. A choice to be average, or to be great. A choice to live life on your terms or on someone else’s terms. A choice to control your destiny or to let someone else control it.
The funny thing is, it’s up to you. And it’s always been up to you.
All you’ve ever had to do was to make up your mind about what you wanted in your life - and to take action for it.
Once you clearly determine what you want, things start to shift and change. You begin to attract the resources and people you need to make your dreams a reality.
But… only if you CHOOSE what you want. You can’t hit an invisible target.
The meaning of life in one word?
DECIDE.
